What Color Worms For Bass

What Color Worms For Bass

What Color Worms For Bass?

Hello, this is Dwight Norris of fishingatwork.com here on the Charles River here to talk to you about the worm. What color worms for bass should you use. There are a variety of colors of bass worms. So pretty much any plastic bait that you can general use. There are a couple colors which people are really into. That’s their bread and butter and they won’t go to anything else.

I have a different viewpoint on what you should use for your plastic color worm or whatever color selection I believe that you should go buy. You should use something that you have in your local area, or what the bass may perceive as a color they should see in its current environment.

Worm Colors

So let’s hit upon one of the most popular thing which is what color worms for bass. it’s kind of brownish color and is close to the normal color of an earthworm per se. You would only see earthworms in certain places along the shoreline. After a rain storm they would either be coming up and somehow the erosion or whatever would make them all fall into the water.

[tcb-script type=”text/javascript”]amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit0”;amzn_assoc_search_bar = “true”;amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fishingatwo02-20”;amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”;amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”;amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”;amzn_assoc_region = “US”;amzn_assoc_title = “My Worm Color Picks”;amzn_assoc_linkid = “31a71e83e284d0a9218f1b30ef09bfe5”;amzn_assoc_asins = “B00EO96E12,B003OALEQC,B003CTPA56,B0009V0NKM”;[/tcb-script][tcb-script src=”//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US”][/tcb-script]

When that happens you’re going to have a little wiggly action. They’ll be trying to escape and the tail here will try to simulate that actual action that’s fall into the water. So that is the general reason why you get a bite during that first fall. So if you try to do a fast retrieve it’s not gonna work because they’re gonna have to be tricked into thinking a minnow looks like a worm. That’s why you’re used to the slow retrieve that the Texas style bullet weight provides. It bounces along the bottom and also the slow descent of the worm works in a way that naturally colored baits like the Berkeley power worm and pumpkin seed color can do really good.

Reaction Bites

Now if you’re wondering about the sparkles that’s really just to get the attention of the bass or whatever fish is after it. Then once it gets the attention it can go to the second stage of investigation, which is if this is real or not. It will see it’s a brownish color. It looks like an earthworm or some kind of natural worm that’s more or less seen only on land. Then it will say, “hey I recognize that I’ve eaten it before“. Then it’s going to go to the third stage, which is actually tasting. It will open it’s mouth hopefully at least halfway, which will bite head first, but take the hook with it as well. Then it’ll take a taste at that point.

[tcb-script type=”text/javascript”]amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit0”;amzn_assoc_search_bar = “true”;amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fishingatwo02-20”;amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”;amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”;amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”;amzn_assoc_region = “US”;amzn_assoc_title = “My Reaction Bite Maker Picks”;amzn_assoc_linkid = “31a71e83e284d0a9218f1b30ef09bfe5”;amzn_assoc_asins = “B004RDSQH0,B00ITGKN9U,B07YS2252B,B07V4J28LC”;[/tcb-script][tcb-script src=”//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US”][/tcb-script]

If you get a plain plastic worm, it’s gonna know decently quick within two three seconds at the most that this isn’t real and might spit it out. It might just hold it in his mouth and look for something else and forget it’s there. I’ve seen this before, but generally it’s in a test and then spit it out it’s not truly hungry and less ravenous an instinct mode. If it is a really finicky bass it will need something else. A fourth level to actually get it to swallow the whole thing. Those are the things you will want to consider when you think about what color worms for bass to use!

My co-workers laughed when I said I was going fishing on a work day…But when they saw my catch of the day!

Fish Attractants

If it’s not a reaction bite when it comes to what color worms for bass, what exactly is it? What do you think they’ll taste? They see it looks smaller than them. They eat it. If something goes bad they’ll spit out later, but when they’re finicky you need a fourth level. That fourth level is going to be taste. so scented baits either the spray on kind with Berkeley or the the mold injected a scent here that allow a fish to hold on to the bait.

[tcb-script type=”text/javascript”]amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit0”;amzn_assoc_search_bar = “true”;amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fishingatwo02-20”;amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”;amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”;amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”;amzn_assoc_region = “US”;amzn_assoc_title = “My Fish Attractant Picks”;amzn_assoc_linkid = “31a71e83e284d0a9218f1b30ef09bfe5”;amzn_assoc_asins = “B000BUUFIQ,B00092RV2Y,B0084EH6C4,B004RDSQH0,B00X5AYZUS,B000309XFK,B0010F9LXG,B000J1V2GQ”;[/tcb-script][tcb-script src=”//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US”][/tcb-script]

I’ve tested it and it is actually nearly true 18 times longer, which comes out it comes out to 18 seconds. On average, they believe that an unscented only last one second in a fish’s mouth before they actually spit it out. I’ve seen between one and three myself. So that’s fairly accurate. I say 18 times longer, but more like 10 or 18 times longer is a better way to describe it.

With that fourth level, they’re all in and that gives pretty much anybody the chance to catch fish. They’ll either feel up the weight of the fish. They’ll feel the fish moving away from them. They can see their line either getting slack all at once. There are no holes there for the worm to fall into or the lines moving left or right. Those are generally the things you’re going to see. With that given time, 18 seconds is a long time.

You’ll either be able to hook the fish and hopefully it doesn’t start eating it. Then you hook it poorly inside of it’s stomach. Then you really have to have some technical tools like that Mr. Crappie Fish Pick that pops out and and keeps the barb wrapped around the device so you can slide it out without grabbing something else. It’s a great device and there’s some others just like it that I will be reviewing while testing what color worms for bass. You can get it up with pliers to if you’re really good. The little experience with a small amount of the fish that are is seeing and do

Best Plastic Worm Colors

So another color popular and the best… I have a sample here from the company Zoom. You saw me do the Zoom Trick worm video. Solid black color is the popular color for Zoom Trick Worms. No people probably wonder what do the solid black colors supposed to do. There are a variety worms which are very dark. They don’t have much going on with them. The black kind of worm works in certain situations.

[tcb-script type=”text/javascript”]amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit0”;amzn_assoc_search_bar = “true”;amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fishingatwo02-20”;amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”;amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”;amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”;amzn_assoc_region = “US”;amzn_assoc_title = “My Zoom Trick Worm Picks”;amzn_assoc_linkid = “31a71e83e284d0a9218f1b30ef09bfe5”;amzn_assoc_asins = “B003CTPA56,B003CUOY4S,B004SEOVL8,B0000C6E0N”;[/tcb-script][tcb-script src=”//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US”][/tcb-script]

When a fish is looking at something all its sees is a dark silhouette of a worm. If you have sparkles or something you might confuse that fish. I mean is that a worm? Is the worm a fake? If you give them a plain or ribbed black worm that has a nice smooth texture. All those things think is that it looks like a shadow or a silhouette of a worm. If you give it the right action you can more than likely get a reaction bite from them rather than a finicky bite.

Anything that makes me want to think it’s not real is bad. So when you are thinking what color worms for bass think natural. Some of them suck it up and eat it and then boom you have your reaction bite! You obviously want more than the finicky nibble on this, but that’s one of the tricks of a Zoom Trick Worm. Using it while it’s weightless helps to make the action look like a shadow hiding. Another color is pumpkin seed, but it’s also just more of a green color. They’re exactly green worms can be some sort of hidden worm that definitely is from area working around our green lily pads.

Pumpkinseed and Watermelon Worms

The pumpkin seed will kind of camouflage with the log. The watermelon seed will camouflage with the grass and the lily pads and leaves and whatever else is in the water. Green and brown is very prominent in pretty much every water. I’m looking at a very large swath of green blue algae, which is helping the grass explode in growth because of the 90 degree plus heat. The stagnant water helps cyanobacteria.

[tcb-script type=”text/javascript”]amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit0”;amzn_assoc_search_bar = “true”;amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fishingatwo02-20”;amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”;amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”;amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”;amzn_assoc_region = “US”;amzn_assoc_title = “My Pumpkinseed Worm Picks”;amzn_assoc_linkid = “31a71e83e284d0a9218f1b30ef09bfe5”;amzn_assoc_asins = “B00UJXHDJE,B0000AUUQ2,B00144D6P2,B084HLHF6P”;[/tcb-script][tcb-script src=”//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US”][/tcb-script]

The fact is that the green color itself makes it look like the the worm has been in the environment a while. It starts to really camouflage itself but it’s kinda like the silhouette. Then it’s it’s trying to hide. The bass can’t tell that it’s a fake worm. So it has to go by the silhouette because the color that it sees is green, but it looks like a worm.

They get one curious then to they have a reaction bite because they’d rather have a meal than guess it’s not a meal and then be hungry. Take what’s given to you that’s what I believe. With that you have another type of reaction bite. It’s a little I’d say it’s not quite as good as a plastic worm because it’s like a complete shadow they have no idea what it is just looks like a worm. It looks like maybe an eel which I saw bird find over here amongst all this grass and and suck it down.

[tcb-script type=”text/javascript”]amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit0”;amzn_assoc_search_bar = “true”;amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fishingatwo02-20”;amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”;amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”;amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”;amzn_assoc_region = “US”;amzn_assoc_title = “My Watermelon Worm Picks”;amzn_assoc_linkid = “31a71e83e284d0a9218f1b30ef09bfe5”;amzn_assoc_asins = “B00015H6TM,B000EQRSZK,B00015H6Z6,B00CO8N25Q”;[/tcb-script][tcb-script src=”//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US”][/tcb-script]

If you’re in certain areas where American Bald Eagles go up the rivers it could look like an eel because then he’ll see this black shape. It will move in a similar way to a worm except that it’s swimmer. You would have to use a faster retrieve. It needs to move faster and bounce along the bottom, which is where you will find that you could actually get you some action.

You could use a slightly different technique but most people don’t think about eel fishing for bass. Striped bass is very popular for eating eel, but it can work for largemouth bass as well. Eels come into the river right here and the ocean is only a mile away from where I’m standing right now. There’s only a small dam that actually spits out.

Crazy Zoom Worm Colors

There are many other worm colors like purple, yellow, neon, etc… but in all reality pretty much every other color other than black, watermelon seed, and pumpkin seed are just trying to get reaction bites. What color worms for bass doesn’t matter then. I think they know that it’s not a worm. We want them to see what looks like the shape of a worm and get the reaction bite. So pretty much every other color are for techniques using the shadow of confusion or sense of smell. Once you get them attracted that can make them hang on later and question their own mind whether this is a real worm or not.

You should get some random ones in case the fish are going crazy and you throw a purple one and they want only crazy reaction bites. On top of that they wanted to see it in the dark water with a big purple neon worm.

You may have seen some people with glow sticks added to the bait to get bluefish who are very aggressive to do the same thing. It’s really dark at night. They put the bait down so they can smell it, but they have a little attractant going to it. They’re more likely to go toward the light like a moth and then they see the bay which gives you a higher probability of catching fish in the area while everybody else is going in dark mode.

You have the single light there like an angler fish luring and then once they see the bait under the light they devour it. It’s the same thing that happens when a big fish appears. The biggest and brightest baits go to the big fish that come in.
